DEEPSTUDIO officially announced SUPERKIND’s disbandment on April 11. The group consisted of 2 virtual and 5 human members. They officially debuted back in 2022, leaving a blueprint with the high-quality design of their first virtual member, Saejin. Using deepfake technology, alongside the later-added member Seung, the virtual members were able to participate in music videos, dance practices, media performances, and entertainment content, maintaining a high level of realism while interacting with the human members and the audience. During their career, they released three singles with a total of 4.5 million views on YouTube, as well as a mini album Profiles of the Future (Λ): 70%.
The virtual members were not the only unique aspect of the group. It was also the first decentralized company project, where fans influenced the course of the group’s career—from the choice of members to their creative content—through a game-like interactive system on the official Discord server and X, run by the company. Fans could post their ideas, vote, and share their own content in exchange for virtual currency, which could later be used to access exclusive content within the server.
Prior to the disbandment, the company halted all group activities and remained inactive on official accounts and the Discord server for many months, leaving SUPERKIND’s fans concerned about the group’s future.
